The old farmhouse kitchen, with its worn wooden table and mismatched chairs, held a certain charm. The morning sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. He sat at the table, savoring his coffee and the silence. The familiar surroundings brought him a feeling of peacefulness. He had his grandfather's pipe beside him.

His mother’s voice, flat and devoid of emotion, cut through the quiet. "Your cousin wants to sell the antique rocking horse," she announced.

He stared, the cup of coffee trembling slightly in his hand. The rocking horse had been a cherished toy from his childhood. The warmth in his chest began to fade, replaced by a cold dread. He set down his cup, the sudden silence deafening. "Rocking horse… sell it?" he asked, his voice barely audible.
